BVBC & DFG POND RULES
We now have the use of the Douglas Fish & Game pond.
This is for MEMBERS ONLY.
A BVBC pin MUST be visible at all times. If asked to show your card PLEASE cooperate with the D.F.G.
3 fish per day /6 fish per week
The week starts on Sunday
Flies & Worms ONLY
NO lures or steel can be used
All netted fish MUST be kept
The pond is known as DUDLEY POND. It is located on SOUTHEAST MAIN STREET in Douglas, MA
From the BEAGLE CLUB you would take a left onto WALNUT STREET
At the end take a left onto ARCH STREET
At the end take a left onto SOUTH STREET
At the stop sign take a right onto ROUTE 16
Your first right will be SOUTHEAST MAIN STREET
You will see the pond on your right, just pull into the cut out area.
Please keep the area clean, there is a trash can for your use.
BLACKSTONE VALLEY BEAGLE CLUB RANGE RULES
Use of the Blackstone Valley Beagle Club shooting ranges is a privilege offered to its members. Strict adhesion to these rules is required. Unsafe or inappropriate behavior will result in the suspension of this privilege and may result in suspension and/or expulsion from the club.
I. ADMINISTRATIVE RULES
1. Hours: The Ranges open 9 AM Monday through Saturday and 12 noon on Sundays. Ranges close one half hour before sunset.
2. ID: All shooters must display club pin or have club membership card on their person when using ranges. Ask unknown persons for proof of membership and report trespassers to the club officers.
3. Log: All shooters, including guests, must sign in and out in the clubhouse, if open. Otherwise, use logs at the ranges.
4. Guests: One guest is allowed per member per visit. When accompanied by a member, a non member may use the range a maximum of three times after which the non member must apply for club membership. It is the responsibility of the sponsoring member to ensure that the non member is aware, understands and adheres to all range and safety rules.
5. Range Officers: Range Officers are members of the range committee and/or members of the Board of Directors or other assigned individuals.
6. All motor vehicles must stay in the designated parking areas. Motor vehicles are not allowed on the ranges.
7. New members are not allowed to use the ranges until they have met with a range officer for an orientation/tour of the ranges.
8. Firearms must be unloaded and properly stored when arriving and departing the range.
9. All ranges are closed during the MA deer shotgun season, except on Sunday’s.
10. All ranges are closed on Saturday’s during the Pheasant shoots until 12:00 noon.
11. All ranges are closed on Sunday’s during Archery shoots until 12:00 noon.
12. All ranges are closed during Field Day.
II. GENERAL RANGE RULES
1. Know and obey all range commands and rules.
2. Know where others are at all times.
3. Shoot only authorized targets (as specified by range officer/range committee)
4. Ground level targets are prohibited. Always maintain proper target height to ensure that the fired projectile hits the backstop after passing through the target. This will reduce the possibility of ricochets and projectiles escaping the range.
5. Designate a range officer if none is present.
6. Obey commands of range officer.
7. Unload, open the action, remove the magazine and ground and/or bench all firearms during a cease fire.
8. Check with range officer and other shooters before going down range.
9. Do not handle firearm, ammunition or stand at the firing line while someone is down range.
10. Always keep muzzle of firearm pointed in the direction of the backstop.
11. Automatic firearms (machine guns/sub machine guns) and firearms chambered for .50 BMG or derivatives are prohibited.
12. Tracer, explosive and incendiary ammunition is prohibited.
13. Fireworks and explosive devices are prohibited.
14. Police shooting area. All brass should be deposited in buckets for recycling. All trash should be deposited in rubbish barrels.
15. Always retrieve target holders after use and store neatly in range buildings.
III. FIREARM HANDLING RULES
1. Always keep gun pointed in a safe direction, down range at a backstop or berm.
2. Always keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
3. Always keep the action open and firearm unloaded until ready to use.
4. Know your target and what is beyond.
5. Be sure your firearm is safe to operate.
6. Know how to use your firearm safety.
7. Use only the correct ammunition specified for your firearm.
8. Eye and ear protection is mandatory on all ranges.
9. Use of drugs and/or alcohol before and during shooting is prohibited.
10. Store firearms so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons. Firearms must be properly stored when arriving and departing the range.
IV. SPECIFIC RANGE RULES
A. Trap Range. – Closed to all shooters
B. Pistol Range:
1. Administration rules (para. I) and General range rules (para. II.) must
be followed.
2. Target holders must be non – metallic. Wooden target frames and basses
are available for use.
3. Only authorized target holders are to be used.
4. Ground level targets are prohibited. Always maintain proper target height
to ensure that the fired projectile hits the backstop after passing through
the target.
5. All live firing must be from the designated firing line.
6. All live firing must be from inside the pistol range building.
C. Rifle Range:
1. Administration rules (para. I) and General range rules (para. II.) must
be followed.
2. Target holders must be non – metallic. Wooden target frames and basses
are available for use.
3. Only authorized target holders are to be used.
4. Ground level targets are prohibited. Always maintain proper target height
to ensure that the fired projectile hits the backstop after passing through
the target.
5. All live firing must be from the designated firing line.
6. All live firing must be from inside the rifle range building.
7. Shooting at targets closer than 50 yards is not permitted.
8. Shooting at 50 yards is restricted to the left side portion of the range
(when facing the backstop).
9. Firing from the old rifle building (enclosed building) and at the old backstop
is not permitted.
10. Access to the range is via the front door of old range building.
